DJM400 Tips / Tricks

Just received my DJM400 and must say this thing is amazing! I love the idea of having the effects on the mixer itself as i think it allows for some extra creativity in your mixes.

This is something ive been playin around with that seems to work out pretty well..

When you have your track beatmatched nicely and eq all nice the way you like it, pu on a flanger or phaser at the highest beat effect selection (4/1 at the bottom, then hit the plus sign to go one more down) and set your effects channel to master. Once the phaser / flanger hits its peak, bring over the crossfader to the other channel and Nice smooth transitiion.

Takes a little playin around with, but the other night when we were playin around at my brothers, I went between 2 tracks a couples times and only one person realized the track had changed.

errr... flanger most over used effect ever lol u can do mixes in a similar way using the filter, filter out the track playing bring the other track in then turn the filter off its abit scammy though using effects over a mix lol i would never do it.

I'm actually recording a set using the 400 right now hehe... as above tho, using an effect to make a transition seem smoother tends to hide what you can do with your eqs, use the effects sparingly as too much can be an annoyance after a while, especially if you listen to a recording afterwards... otherwise enjoy the 400 its wicked!
