Austin Scott's set was cut short.....

The live act was horrendous.....

Piet's set got cut short by TWO HOURS because the venue decided to close early and Giant had no say on it.....

i know what you mean Scott!! def a wierd night. i loved your set good stuff and i cant wait to see you play again man... talk about getting cut short...

Rank 1: Peit got cut short too... he only got to play half of his set and he was building for something epic he was only half way through the set and had us hooked oh man, espceailly after "glicerian's"weird new wave electro set that killed the middle of the night and caused me and a lot of other people to go to the hip hop room and other places to jus become a wall flower for like 45 minutes...

despite all that i was glad to be there and glad to meet a lot of people and see both Scott adn Piet play!!! Next time Piet comes to down i love to hear him play a full set THAT WOULD BE DEADLY!!!

Shame / Disagreement

Here's my review of the very odd night:

Josh & I got downtown later than we wanted to but it wasn't a big deal at all. Wound up getting in as one of the very first people. Austin Scott was up there spinning, and we got to talk to him a bit since almost no one had shown up except his "fan crew." (Not dissing any of you btw... just can't come up with a better term atm.) Austin made it a point early to chat with Josh & I (even showed Josh some new abilities on the mixer there... kudos for being a brother on that Scott!) and was obviously not happy with the working of the night. Not that I really blame him after being misinformed during his booking. All in all, that kind of explains the whole night in some ways. Anyways, Austin Scott spun well enough for the crowd that actually appeared for the show and honestly, I know he still believes he wasn't feeling it right, but the tracks made the night rock. Most memorable (and what I could ID) for me were: Iio - Is It Love (Starkillers Remix), I recall talking about and believe you played David West - Suffering Island (Joonas Hahmo Remix) & that other track that I've heard a lot of that sounds like the lyric of "I can give you what you want, what you need..." or something like it with a kinda Tech sound to it. Unfortunately, not only did the system die once for Scott, but he also got screwed out of keeping us pumped with this weird live act inbetween the two sets. Still, kudos for being one of the coolest guys around Scott. I mean that really. Don't let the stupid people get you down at all man... hopefully you remember some of our convo! lol.

Then came the weird, completely dumb live act. I mean they weren't horrible, but they killed the whole vibe for the night, and I'm not the only one that felt that way. The producer guy was great fun to watch and made good tracks and had it just been him I think the act would have done better. I can't blame the vocalist entirely though as she never got a mic check. That being said... I would have come early to test it out... but that's me. All in all I kinda lost the vibe and went walking around, chatted some and what not.

Then came Piet. He totally held back in the beginning in my opinion, to respect the weird live act that occured before him. He was humble enough to not show them up and that speaks to his character. All in all, he did look tired and a bit disappointed by the turnout. I don't blame him because that was the least packed night I've been to at Belo yet. That didn't stop him from rocking the crap out of it for us. He played Cara Dillon vs. 2Devine - Black Is The Colour (Coco & Green Remix) fairly early, setting what seemed like a more electro feel to the night. What ensued was hardly that. Things just kept picking up and up and one of the coolest tracks I think of the night I actually have no ID for. The track had female vocals which said, amongst other lines, "With an Unchained Melody..." in the chorus. Any help IDing that track would be huge.

As the night grew longer, and time switched into the morning, Piet continued picking up and dropped huge tracks like Joop - The Future (Rank 1 Remix) and dropped an amazing remix of Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes that got the whole crowd to sing along. He kept it rocking the whole night with trakcs like Leon Bolier presents Precursor - Lyra (Joop Remix) and, of course, Armin van Buuren vs Rank 1 ft Kush - This World Is Watching Me (Cosmic Gate Remix). Unfortunately, Peit suffered a similiar situation as Austin Scott, and around 1:40 the flourescent lights came on. No matter for any of us, we just kept going. Peit played this awesome vocal track that including the line "When You Are Next To Me" and invovled that cliche thing about success through love. lol. The track those was great. Around 1:50 the club just cut Piet right off without warning and security came in and told us all to leave.

Mad props to Piet for bringing a storming set to San Diego. Great work... seriously. Josh told me when we were driving, "I'm not sure I've danced that hard in years!" Aside from Belo being a lame duck again, the night was fun, exciting and overall enjoyable. Thanks to Kevin (the light guy) for some helpful tips as well. It's unfortunate that it played out that way and most of the kids I know would come to that night were in Miami. Please come back Piet, you threw it down proper and plenty of us really appreciate the work Giant's been doing getting proper DJs in... but again, venue issues are killing everything. Shame to those that didn't come out and support one of the best DJ/Producers over the last 5/10 years!

I went to glycerin (the live act's) myspace page afterwards and the vocals are MUCH more clear, I couldn't understand anything she was saying on stage. However, the lyrics aren't exactly my cup of tea, they seem really amature in my opinion... so I'm not sure how much a mic check would have helped in the end.

Can anyone ID the opening track? I'm not having luck searching the vocals since my camera didn't do the best job recording audio.
