Existential question

So here it is: let's say you were offered a dreamjob; Fun, little to no stress cause you pretty much master the job already, considerable salary increase, job security (permanency), flexible hours, lots of holidays, union, name it.. The only downside is that you'd have to move to a shithole of a town where there's basically nothing to do but work, and be far away from family and friends to perform your duty, would you take it??

And yes, I am in that situation at the moment...

Well it's not like you'd have to work there forever. It's a new opportunity, isn't it? Go for it.

Go for it man, If you've got a load of holidays you can always visit back home and you'll have fairly more money to have fun when you're back there.

Hmm I'd be permanent, so I'd pretty much have to settle down there, until I retire of course

I wouldnt do it. Ive had a couple offers of great jobs in kinda shitty citys. The most recent was an opportunity at running & being part owner of a company in Clarkesville Tenn. I never took any of em. Way too far from family & friends.

you should take it if you think you'll like it ... and perhaps you'll be able to take up caribou hunting!

as opposed to being on contract or a temporary replacement, I know how the company works and unless you kick your boss in the face, steal something or REALLY fuck up it's almost impossible to get fired, so yeah I'd call that job safety. Plus I work in telecom and permanent positions are very rare..
