Anti skate on 0 when mixing, a lot of people are argueing on this, some say to set it at the same amount as the weight, others say to set it at 0, I'm part of the second group

Height : if you want to be really precise, the tonearm and the platter should form an angle of 15°. But most people set the height to 6 with Ortofon concordes (and the Banana is made after the Concorde model...).

Now the weight. I'd say about 2-5g is a safe bet for Banana's. I'll explain the method I use to set my weight optimally.
Start with the heaviest possible (weight turned in as much as possible normal way, not reversed).
Now play a record, and do some ultra fast and large baby scratches (just move it back and forward very fast). After that do some ultra slow and small baby scratches (and I mean very slow and small). Why two sorts of movement? They'll put out a different kind of force on the needle.

Now look, if the needle didn't skip in any of both scratches, decrease the weight by 0.5g and repeat. Do this until the needle starts to skip. At that point, reset the weight at the latest position where everything was rock stable.
That way you'll be ensured of a skip resistant needle, while having the least possible wear in that matter.

Of course you already need to have a little bit of feel for handling records. From experience, I can say that with Banana's, if you can make the needle skip with a weight of over 4g you are

- either using a very poor support for your tables
- handling the record way too heavy, learn to handle them with "feather hands"
- playing football with your 1200s

Thumbs up

Thank you guys!
but i also heard that you have to keep the tonearm as horizontal as possible. what do you think about that??
and another thing: the bananas are 16 gram so i've put the extra weight at the end (=back) of the tonearm, but after i balanced the tonearm, i can put the weight at a maximum of 2,5. am i doing something wrong here?
greets,
ivan
