Who uses Logic ??

I have been playing with Logic for a couple of months now and oh my god, what a complicated, yet amazing program it is ???

Was just wondering who uses Logic here for their productions and how much time did it take for you to really get a grasp on this monster.

I'm using Logic - on PC. Still using Logic Platinum 5.5. I know it's time to upgrade, but I just can't justify spending money on a Mac right now. If only they upgraded the MINIs...

Coming from Cubase VST, the first two times I tried using Logic I couldn't get it to work at all - I simply had no idea how it functions or how to set it up. On the third attempt I finally figured it out and I never looked back. I love this program! I've been using it for about 5-6 years and I still find new, useful features that I haven't discovered before.
Also, I still think ES2 is THE best VST synth I have ever used.

I also use Logic on PC and I think Cubase doesn't even come close (haven't tried version 4 yet though).

There is a little threshold using Logic, but once you've come over it, it's wonderful.

What about time stretching, sample warping, instrument tracks, in-place editor and all the STANDARD things you're missing out on?

yeah... Cubase CLEARLY doesn't even come close.

I think you're delusional. Fair enough if you like the work flow and don't want to move over to Mac, but if you put your ego/fanboyism aside for a second, you would realise it has long since been left behind feature-wise.

Both have their strong and weak points. I would say I like cubase better for midi and mixing but the logic plugins are simply brilliant (especially ES1-ES2). I switched to cubase 3SX some time ago in order to avoid problems with my virus TI, and I had to buy some plugins to get the same results.
@ echo, logic has instrument tracks since a long time

Tbh I think I would still be using logic if they hadn't discontinued it but on the other hand if you have decent plug-ins, cubase might be better.

To answer the question, it took me about 2-3 months to get my head around the environment so I could hook up my midi equipment and do everything the way I wanted it.

true story, i havent used logic 5 for so long i cant remember

But yeah... point remains; if you're going to START using Logic now you would want to do it on a Mac. There are too many important tools missing in Logic 5... You'd be better served by Cubase.

Yea, I am sure there are ups and downs of Logic compared to others. As far as I care, Logic is brilliant. Yes, it is hard to get started properly with it but its definitely worth it.

I got Logic 7 a couple of months ago and am still in the learning process.

The Logic drum machine - Ultrabeat, has just blown me apart. ES1, ES2, EFM are all great. Automation is great, the configurations for MINI is amazing. Sculpture lets you make your own instruments from scratch....there are just way to many features to state.

But I am just getting started as a producer and it is just a hobby, and the fact that using Logic reminds me of my engineering days in a really cool way. So I am hooked on it as of now...

So all you producers comparatively more experienced than me...

How do you guys get started with production...you have an idea or a simple melody...then you play it on a midi to get a better feel of it...

What do you do then...start with the beat??? add base...whats up....I am just confused cos I just want to know a good effective to get started on a production..
