Nope. It's just universally agreed upon that they're awful DJ's who produce mediocre mainstream pop trance.
A bit harsh - I agree they're on the commenrcial side but there's a hell of a lot worse out there.
Although fluffy and commercial i thought their Good For Me offering was pretty stirring. Thomas Datt polished it though.

best part of the interview.

That's so complicated because we all do different things depending on how we feel. There's so much more that comes from how we work together than from being reductionist about us.
Jono has this incredible Juke Box brain and is able to recall chords and sounds from thousands of records, so he's an incredibly fast source of musical ideas. On the other hand he loves the groove part of tracks and would quite happily work on the intro for ever. Paavo is our in house technical genius who could probably build a working satellite out of a beer can, an old radio and some toothpicks, but underneath it all he has a really strong connection with the emotional side of music and so writes the most amazing, sad music. My schtick is songs, really, the delivery of a message with words or musical progression. What the milkman is singing (or whistling) at any point in the track is my thing. But I'm an ex-marketing guy, so I obsess about the visual side of what we do as well. But as I said before, its the combination that really explains it but that's far too complex to explain at 7.00am!

i actually don't mind A+B compared to other sellouts like Tiestocle who hawks his own shoe and restaurant instead of focusing on producing music...

There's actually a very large number of them.
And to be fair, I was really slagging their DJ'ing more than their production.
I'm not going to read another t.nu interview ever again. Why can't we find people to actually ask questions with substance that haven't been asked a million times before to every DJ?
Anybody want to pitch in to pay James Lipton to do some interviews?

Oh for fucks sake it's getting so old, yes Tiesto isn't the same as he used to be but people move on. I used to bitch about the trance scene all the time until I realized it doesn't do anything.
If you don't like the scene and want it back to the way it was, take upon producing and give back to the scene instead of just feeding. Music changes, thats the only thing that stays the same; change. I'd like 60's music to come back but it won't
He's being sucessful and trying to get his name across and promote himself as much as possible. I don't ever see people bitching about Vath opening up Cocoon Club/restaurant, it's always the fad. I mean really, he's taking care of his own career by trying to be as sucessful in his field as possible and that is pretty understandable I would believe. I don't really see any up top DJ really producing as much as they used to.
And yes, with more success comes more conceitedness, may apply to others more. I'm sure you'd sellout in a a way if you had the success he's received.
And no I don't follow the trance scene at all any more, it's just pretty fucking annoying to hear the same shit all the time.
