Taking a look at the L.A. Kings, you've got
Felix Potvin as a starting goaltender and
Jamie Storr as a back-up. Who deserves to be
the starter? Clearly it's Potvin because he's
played over 70 games and has great playoff experience.
I'd say the Kings should have played Storr
more often in the regular season because come
playoff time, if your starting goalie gets injured,
you're stuck with with an unprepared back-up goalie.
I just feel sorry for Storr, who is an overwhelmingly
exceptional goaltender and has the capability
of being a starter. He has not played alot of
games, has a couple shoutouts and a number of
games where he has allowed only one goal. Plus,
I met him at this year's all-star fantasy weekend.
He is the one of the calmest person you'll ever meet.
You take a look at Philadelphia, a balance between
Boucher and Chechmanek has been established. Both
goalies are ready to go in the playoffs. So,
Goaltending is extremely important, especially
in the playoffs. Obviously, you need your go to
guy, but you also want your back-up to be ready.

Pretty damn good for a backup if you ask me. Maybe Vancouver should've traded Potvin for Storr...
Unfortunately for Philly, both of their goalies are in a slump right now.
My thoughts:
When awarding the Hart trophy, a player who is on a playoff bound team deserves more consideration IMO. This is why I believe Theodore should get it instead of Iginla. I'm not overlooking Naslund/Bertuzzi, but IMO, they can't win it because they would split the vote. Sure Calgary would've probably finished last without Iginla, but Montreal is no better than Calgary themselves, but thanks to their stellar goaltender, they have a hope.
Theodore won in 30 of Montreal's 36 wins. He faced, on average 29 shots a game and managed to post a .931 save percentage and the second lowest GAA among regularly starting goalies at 2.12. On top of all of that, he scored a goal.
One exercise I like to do when judging who I believe to be the MVP, is to remove that player from his team and think about what the result would be.
Calgary = Not in the playoffs
Calgary - Iginla = Not in the playoffs
Montreal = In the playoffs
Montreal - Theodore = Definitely not in the playoffs
Vancouver = In the playoffs
Vancouver - Bertuzzi = Most likely not in the playoffs
Vancouver - Naslund = Definitely not in the playoffs
Vancouver - Naslund and Bertuzzi = Not a hope in hell

My favourite playoff memories:
-Sakic handing the cup to Bourque:
In the words of Don Cherry, "what a beauty!"
-Edmonton winning in 1990:
First playoffs I remember watching.
-Irbe showing the Wings how it's done in '95:
Being a goalie myself at the time, I found it exciting
-Panthers playoff run in '96:
I was also a Panthers fan.
-Mario Lemiux kicking ass against the North Stars
I thought he was a god at the time
-Gretzky putting away the leafs in '93
Oh that was sweet
-Roy putting away the Kings in '93
Last Canadian team to win the cup
-Edmonton upsetting Dallas in '97
-Edmonton upsetting Colorado in '98
The Wings should thank us for not having to play the #1 seed in the West for their 2 cups in row
-Colorado vs. Detroit in '97
Best series I have ever seen.
I love the playoffs.
