My thoughts:

When awarding the Hart trophy, a player who is on a playoff bound team deserves more consideration IMO. This is why I believe Theodore should get it instead of Iginla. I'm not overlooking Naslund/Bertuzzi, but IMO, they can't win it because they would split the vote. Sure Calgary would've probably finished last without Iginla, but Montreal is no better than Calgary themselves, but thanks to their stellar goaltender, they have a hope.

Theodore won in 30 of Montreal's 36 wins. He faced, on average 29 shots a game and managed to post a .931 save percentage and the second lowest GAA among regularly starting goalies at 2.12. On top of all of that, he scored a goal.

One exercise I like to do when judging who I believe to be the MVP, is to remove that player from his team and think about what the result would be.

Calgary = Not in the playoffs
Calgary - Iginla = Not in the playoffs

Montreal = In the playoffs
Montreal - Theodore = Definitely not in the playoffs

Vancouver = In the playoffs
Vancouver - Bertuzzi = Most likely not in the playoffs
Vancouver - Naslund = Definitely not in the playoffs
Vancouver - Naslund and Bertuzzi = Not a hope in hell

Along with Storr, I also saw Jose Theodore at the N.H.L.
all-star fantasy weekend. There was this private room
with a long line for people waiting to get an autographed
puck signed by Theodore personally. Right before it was
my turn, this guy in front of me was wearing the Russian
Federation team jersey and holding a puck with a Canadian
logo on it. You should have seen the look on Theodore when
he looked at the puck. He said, "Russia? Canada? Make up
your mind." I was LMAO.

this year's mvp should go to naslund or theodore. iginla is a good guy and such a great talent but IMO the guy that took his team to the playoffs should be in line to get the honor first.

As they went down on the ice, the rest of the team piled

you know what? to me the canucks right now almost look like the 1996 colorado avalanche. the avs were young and just literally beat up on that old detroit team. the avs also learned from getting spanked by the NYR when they were in quebec the year before. just as the canucks have learned from going out 4-0 to these same avs last year. cloutier has played phenominal just as i expected him to do. i knew we made a great pick up last year when we traded for him. now its finally paying dividends. all the key players are so young and have so many years left in their careers. this is going to be a great team to watch for years to come if brian burke can manage to keep most of them together. whats your take?

i think i will stick with potvin. he hasn't been spectacular but i don't think the kings would be better off with jamie storr. potvin dumped detroit after going down 2-0 to the wings last year. i'd say keep riding him out.
