Monitor suggestions / advice

Hi

I'm looking to get some new monitors, although I do already have some. I have no idea if they are any good for what I'm doing though. They are Boothroyd Stuart MERIDIAN M3s and about 25+ years old puh

I doubt anyone has heard of them. I read they go for a fair bit on Ebay, but get the impression they are for oldschool audiophiles for use in the lounge, not for making trance in the studio happy ...but maybe I'm wrong

I've had a listen to the Tannoy Reveal 5a's in a shop (and would have them now if they'd had them in stock), and read a 10/10 review about them over at musictechmag.co.uk. But now I waited on got the shits...Do I want them? Do I need them ?

I've been looking at the KRK RP6 too, as they seem fairly popular on here, but the shop doesn't stock them to listen to unhappy

So my 3 choices at the moment are keep my brown M3's
The tannoy reveal 5a's about £220 for the pair
KRK RP6 - about £290 for the pair

any suggestions opinions ?

No experience with the others but i used to own KRK Rokit 6's and i'm glad i got rid of them..They're very 'hi-fi' so its hard to nail a mix on them that translates well to other systems..

I sold them to buy Dynaudio BM5A's which were much better & since then i've sold those to get Dynaudio BM6A's which i'm really happy with & don't think i'm ever gonna get rid of.

Anyway i would suggest you save up & buy the best monitors you can afford, really good one's start at the $1000 mark (you get what you pay for)

If you really cannot wait then i would suggest getting Samson Rubicon 6A's, heard really good things about them..
