Nadia Ali

Nadia Ali, voice of the group iiO, is responsible for the crossover hit Rapture that captured the world's attention just a few short years ago. A string of club hits - At the End, Smooth, and Runaway followed, and now Nadia’s writing skills and lush voice are sure to take the music world by storm as she launches her solo career. Nadia recently collaborated with Armin Van Buuren on ‘Who is Watching,’ a track which, complete with a haunting acoustic guitar, is set to mesmerize audiences once again. The single will available on Armin Van Buuren's album, ‘Shivers.’

Nadia Ali (b. August 3, 1980) is a singer who is best known as a former member of the band iiO. She was born in Libya to Pakistani parents and grew up in Queens, New York City.

Working with producer Markus Moser she wrote the lyrics and provided the vocals for the songs, most notably the 2001 hit "Rapture" which reached #2 on the UK pop chart and topped dance charts all over the world. This single was remixed many times by the likes of Armin Van Buuren, John Creamer & Stephane K and Deep Dish with bootleg and white label remixes emerging.

As well as being the songwriter, she has also been the vocalist on all of the tracks released by the group. The releases culminated with the release of the debut album by the band, Poetica in the summer of 2006.
She left iiO after 4 years in 2005 deciding to go solo. She is currently writing and recording her full length debut album with DJ/Producer Lance Jordan, DJ Sultan, and others.

In 2006, as a solo artist, she released 2 singles. The first, Who is Watching, was a collaboration with DJ/Producer Armin Van Buuren and appeared on his album "Shivers." The second, Something To Lose which is a duet with singer/songwriter Rosko, was produced by Creamer & K and released by Ultra Records. The duet was championed on the UK's BBC Radio One by Pete Tong, and remixes have appeared on releases by Sharam of the Grammy Award-winning duo Deep Dish, as well as Roger Sanchez.

iiO (or iio, pronounced "eye-oh") is a New York City based dance music act comprised solely of producer/songwriter Markus Moser. Former members include vocalist/songwriter Nadia Ali, who left in 2005 to pursue a solo career. iiO are best known for their 2001 hit "Rapture", the lyrics to which were allegedly inspired by a meeting that occurred between Nadia Ali and an unidentified nightclub patron. The name iiO is derived from the Sony VAIO laptop name, on which the duo was creating much of their early work. The "Va" in Vaio was later dropped and replaced with an additional "i" to prevent any problems with Sony.
iiO followed up "Rapture" with several successful remixes of the track by producers John Creamer & Stephane K, Armin Van Buuren and Deep Dish. A large number of bootleg and white label remixes ensued, including a highly-sought Paul Van Dyk remix. After "Rapture" was released, the duo followed suit with "At the End" in 2003. The release featured remixes by The Scumfrog and Saeed & Palash.

iiO's first album, Poetica, had been delayed several times and was finally released independently in March 2005 on Made Records, and released worldwide in June 2006. "Smooth" was the first single released to promote the album, followed by "Runaway", "Kiss You", "Is It Love?" and the latest being "Rapture 2007".
