ok i've been spinning for a few months now.....i can beatmatch pretty well...the only problem is when i bring the incoming record in, u get the two bass running together which makes the bass loud then soft then loud, it just sounds weird....i usually leave the cross fader in the middle, using the volume control to introduce a incoming track, then as i increase the volume i turn the bass down for the outgoing track, then pulling the volume control down.
i know there r some ppl that leave the volume control for both channel up.....n use only the crossfader
(hope u guys can understand what im trying to say)

anyhow, i would like to konw how u guys do ur mixes , and how to fix that problem???

umm for me.. if a track is perfectly beatmatched.. the double bassline ur talkin about is kinda obsolete?
when u bring the incoming volume up, u could get it 1/2 way up... pull the playin record volume down.. and then slowly push one up one down..
it depends who u are.. ppl have different methods.. but thats how i do it..
and if u have an amp, i think that'll cut out the extra volume u hear..
and yea.. i leave the cross fader in the middle too and push volume up and down.. but my hifi seems to keep the volume constant even if i have 2 tracks at full volume... *shrugs*

I use the crossfader to blend the tracks - the problem you've got is where the basslines are out of phase. You could try nudging one record very slightly ahead but I prefer to use EQ. On the incoming record I kill the bass, then bring the crossfader to 1/3 way across, on the next 1/3 I increase the bass on the incoming track while decreasing the bass on the outgoing, and hey presto - super smooth mixing.

That's normal. You'll get used to it. If you listen to live DJ sets or even Mix CD's (I believe even the GU series has some transitions were you can here it).

Don't worry about that. The problem with the bass too loud. Try to play with the EQ. '

I turn down mids and highs about to 25%, leave the bass on. Then lower the bass bit by bit for the outgoing record as I phase in the mids of the incoming. Then lower the highs and mids of the outgoing and fade in the rest.

Remember, depending on what music you play, I usually have about 2 minutes or more to do the transitions, so take your time.

Of course, if you play different tracks, inharmonic keys together, or tracks with lots of breakdowns, you have to play with the EQ accordingly and maybe mix in and out shorter.

You probably wanna monitor the bass of the incoming track on the headphones and adjust accordingly.

And when you bring the channel faders up, try to bring in up every one bar. In this way, the mix will sound a lot smoother.

Also, make sure maintain the volume of the songs by monitoring the Eq LEDs. Keep it to around +/- 1 db.
