*ehem, cough* Well, VST stands for virtual studio technology (im sure) and is steinbergs native format for its effects and synth plugins. It basicially means you can have virtual copies of real life studio items. Such as reverb, phaser, filters, synths, samples etc.
Steinberg has licenced this format/technology to other companies so its not just a cubase format. fruityloops, logic etc all can use vst instruments.

no,, because someone has to program the vst instruments,,, and noone can emulate exactly the synths' engine...and the company almost never do this, waits from you to buy the hardware, if you like it, :|
