well above and beyond might be overrated based on their productions today. |
And yesterday, and the year before, and ever since Anjunabeats - Vol 1.

Actually, you CAN deny it. But then again, you can't, because they're responsible for the decline in quality.
| quote: | Originally posted by a98 they brought a whole new style of trance with them (which everyone then started copying
and are still copying) |
Except that no.
| quote: | | Originally posted by a98 and expecially whole new level of production quality, a new standard. |
You mean simple, unoriginal shit is nowadays a quality standard?

And I consider them to be horrible danceifications of the genre that do Trance no justice. Simple shit for simpletons. Not that I have anything against music that does things simply in style, but Above & Beyond have always lacked that style and the special vibe.
| quote: | | Originally posted by a98 the only "problem" is that they got stuck on that sound, so it got boring, expecially after everyone else started to copy them. |
Now, exactly who are copying them, besides some artists of their label?

i said production quality standard, meaning mixing and sound quality. not ideas.

well most of new uplifting trance producers, after their first big releases, a lot of people started to use their signature sound (similar bassdrums, similar pluck riffs, similar synth effects sweeps and such and expecially similar bassline riffs X C1 C2 C1 pattern)
i'm not the biggest fan of their type of uplifting trance (the only new trance i really listen is progressive and slower melodic) but i still give recognition for other substyles of trance, even the most commercial. if you fail to see their impact on their style of trance then you obviously haven't listened to mainstreamtrance before they appeared.

No, I'm pretty sure that they've been overrated for a long time.

Because ideas have nothing to do with production quality.
Wait, yes they do. And for that matter, saying that mixing and sound quality started developing because A&B came around is just fucking ignorant.

So, all you really have is "similarity", and not only that, you give the impression that Above & Beyond actually invented the techniques used in their tracks.

Oh, I've seen the impact, the hordes of fanboys listening the crap they make and praising it. I'd rather live without that.
