MSTRKRFT & The Rapture Fans.....

What would you classify MSTRKRFT, The Rapture, and similar styles of music as?

I ask, because last night I played at an Indie party, and they kept calling MSTRKRFT & The Rapture indie. I was really surprise, because this was my first indie party in a long time and the crowd was all into that style of music. When I was told it was an indie party, I thought it was going to be more like indie rock, like Bravery, Los Abandoned, etc... I was dead wrong. It was more like MSTRKRFT, The Rapture, Justice, Interpol, Steve Aoki.

I really liked the crowd, and the girls were like 4 to a guy!!! So many hot girls!!! WOW!!! Not to mention that the music was so fucken refreshing. I let the other DJ's play longer cuz I really liked their music.

I'll keep it as simple as possible.

Electro.

This would be a better topic for the Music Discussion forum, but people can get a little crazy there.

But yeah, the artists you mentioned could literally be broken down into a dozen or so different genres. Hurts my head sometimes. Especially when people bicker about where they fall exactly. Just leave it be! It's good music, that's all that matters.

Yea! That's what I thought. But to me, Electro was the more obvious kind, like Dirty South stuff. You know, the same shit we hear over and over and over again. But that music last night was awesome!!! I really digged it. I secretly recorded the other DJ. hehehe I'm gonna hear it now.

I know a lot of peopel at my work who wear MSTRKRFT shirts and stuff and love their music, but wouldn't step within 1000ft of saying they like EDM.

Acts like MSTRKRFT, Justice, etc, just have something to their sound that draws a different crowd than the EDM crowd....and you know...I would say that crowd is the type that's into the more offbeat indie music, lol.
