I'd like to know what are Faternaties/Sororites and what is the general purpose of them?

Well I've heard from people who were in Frats/Sororities that they're really good to meet people and have contacts w/ them later on in life (ie: if you meet someone in a frat studying business...and later on in life you become a manager, you can go to that friend for business deals, 'hook-ups', etc ).....

oh ya, and they're also good for parties

fraternities and sororities are 'clubs' basically. fraternities being for men and sororities for women. they are, as i am sure you are aware, for those in college(alt they have grad school, undergrad, religious or specific schools).

people choose them for many reasons, and their popularity often depends on the school, the time and the place. some people join for contacts later on in life, some people join because they go to school in another state than which they lived. many people just join for the parties/girls and use those reasons for justification.

i personally, go to a school where they are VERY popular, but i cant see myself as part of one. im actually your ideal frat guy too, most people prolly assume im in one. im too independent i guess, but i have friends in them also. late/
