He's clearly playing some chords over the track...

Seems like what he's doing has minimal impact, but it looks cool. I could be wrong though... hard to tell.

ok so he's adding stuff that my crappy computer headphones can't play ?

Watching him playing, I though he was starting the song with the keyboards...I thought this was kinda weird.

I saw him a few months ago and he used the keyboard, without looping, to play some parts on top of songs

That's pretty cool. He's probably just bored after all these gigs of doing the same old thing, so he's mixing things up a little.

He uses Ableton + xone3d to actually mix though and uses his keyboards/midi controllers and xone3d to do his live reediting

Could you go into more depth Stan? Does the keyboard trigger loops from abelton? I'm not getting it.

pvd had 2 laptops w/ abelton live, 2 midi keyboards, trigger finger? and one other midi device along w/ xone 3D going on at once! at least last time at 1015 he did

One of hte keyboards is definately hooked up to a soft-synth VST that he plays notes on, he also uses one of them (maybe hte trigger finger) as his drum machine or to fire off samples, and he can launch effects off either his xone3d or one of the other midi controllers

the first laptop that runs ableton is used for tracklaunching while the second one is used for VSTs i believe
