Trancy Vocals

for the past few days i've been trying to make my vocals sound as close to the "big hits" as possible.. such as above & beyond, armin, etc..

this is my latest attempt:
http://download.yousendit.com/EC78F15A1AD03F8C

the first half is the original song, the second half is my version..

the vocals are from Blake's song (No Where Near) that comes with FL studio as one of the sample songs..

i would appreciate any comments as i'm still learning.

nice

good stuff...what kind of effect did you use on the vocals to achieve that dreamy/echo (I know its probably delay) but still thought I ask...

I use FL studio as well

Where are these vocals from? You record them yourself?

If you recorded them yourself Id suggest a pop filter. If you already used one, I'd look at the 'p' at :45, pretty heavy hit, just an example. If you can't re-record, the frequency of the 'p' is pretty low and cutting the lows < 100 out seemed to get rid of it without

I think the texture you've given it is great (and I too would like to know what you used specifically), and I think some EQing would round it out nicely. I boosted at 270 and cut at 9k and it seemed to bring out a lot of vocal quality. Seemed a bit strong on the high end to me, but I also don't know what else is in your mix that this has to fit into.

Do you have an pitch correction software/plugins? There's a few shady notes in there and I think it would help to settle the vocals in the track.

This isn’t my vocals, I didn’t record these vocals. The vocals are from Blake’s song that comes with FL Studio as a sample song.. I just used his vocals to practice on it.

As for the “P” you are right I noticed that too, but I didn’t really bother fixing it since this is just for the sake of practicing.

For the EQ I know it sounds a bit too much on the high end but I noticed a lot of songs have that style to them so that’s what I was aiming for. (I think no one could be right or wrong here)

To get this effect I worked with 2 wave files. One being the vocal it self and the second wave being "the effect" which is connected to a different Fx channel with some delay and reverb. a sidechain to give it that dreamy mood and tons of other stuff like ozone... I’m too lazy to name everything..:P

I would also like to know what reverb/effects you used to get that nice floaty touch :P
