I went to Cancun for Spring Break last year stayed at a shitty/cheap hotel in the heart of the main strip (I think it was called Girasol). I got my friend who was staying at the Oasis Cancun to "lose" their bracelet and give it to me, so I had access to all of their facilities for the week. It cost them $100 to get a new one but I paid it for him and it was well worth it. That's where all the day action is and the hotel has a great pool and pretty good food, including a sushi bar, all inclusive.
As for the clubs, I was very disappointed. Keep in mind that during Spring Break they are catering to a majority of American college students, so pretty much the only music you will hear all week is Hip-Hop. These were all the clubs that are located in the usual packages: The City, Basic, Dady' O, Koko Bongo's (dont even step foot in there), etc...
The only one of those that played any sort of EDM was Dady O, and it didn't come on until about 2-3am, and the clubs close sometime around 4:30, or at least a majority of the people leave by then (Dady O did have a sick laser system though). Honestly, the best night I had out was catching Jason Jollins at this smaller local venue on the water called Nectar Bar. That was an awesome place/night.
If you're looking for more of a nightlife and more EDM, I suggest heading to Acapulco. I've been there for the past two years and prefer it over Cancun greatly. It's rapidly gaining popularity with the Spring Break crowd and provides just as good of day parties as Cancun from my experience.
There are two really nice clubs in Acapulco called Mandara and Palladium. Both have EAW Avalon sound systems that pump, and both are run really well. Cover is $50 for open bar from 12-5am. The clubs stay open until the last person leaves as well, I was there until 8-9AM on a few occasions. The also mix in much more EDM into the night (I know Tiesto and Calderone have been there in the past year). Overall, those two clubs beat out anything Cancun had to offer, IMO. I believe STS has packages where you get 2 nights at each of those clubs.
The only thing worse about Acapulco is the food and getting there. Other than that, I would suggest staying away from Cancun if your asking advice on a site called tranceaddict.
Feel free to PM me any specific questions on the issue.
