I am looking for tracks with long highly repetitive energetic beats. Examples of some of my favorite tracks include

PVD - Seven Ways (from Global)
Emmanuel Top - Mars (Kai Tracid Remix)
Smoked - Metro / Polis
Smart System - Morgentau (spring mix)

Songs like these immediately make me go What genre am I looking at here ? What DJs play sets with these kinds of tracks. That, and stuff similar to

Jas van Houten - Heaven's Gate (Original Mix).

I would suggest you sequester yourself permanently in 2002 and you'll be good to go.

I'de say you are looking at tech-trance or acid trance, or better yet progressive trance with a dash of tech (esp the Paul van Dyk tune). The Heaven's Gate track though is probably what you would consider "progressive trance" but the more melodic variety that Schulz spins.
