Christmas contest shenanigans
Hi guys, I need your advice on something. I've really been struggling with what to do and I'm still pissed about it so I'm not sure about what to do. So, here it goes:
I'm part of the 'Fun Committee' at the office. We are in charge of putting together fun activities about once a month to get out of the office environment and keep colleagues motivated. So far we've done some really cool stuff like climbing a volcano, paintballs, rappelling, parties, etc. Last week, we were asked by our HR manager to help out in putting together some fun activities for this year's Christmas Party. Among other things, we did a "Guess how many m&m's in the jar" contest. The prize was a DVD player. The only people who knew how many were in the jar were the Fun Committee members.
We were receiving estimates the day after and the day of the party, and even during the party. And it turns out that 10 minutes before the deadline, this mofo who happens to be dating one of the members gives out his estimate and misses by 2 m&m's. Me and another friend confronted her. We went all good cop/bad cop on her (I played bad cop in case you were wondering) but with no success. She denied the whole thing. Of course, there is absolutely on doubt in our minds about what happened and we had to make up some bullshit about giving a second prize due to the extremely high participation in order to compensate to the real winner.
Our dilemma here, is what to do next. This was definitely wrong in so many ways and these ******s should not get away with it under any circumstances. We all feel we should do something but not really sure what since this shit can get blown out of proportion and it's our workplace we're talking about here ffs!!!
So guys, what would you do in this situation? Any techniques on how to get these ******s to confess or something?
