This is a film by Uwe Boll, a man whose name is synonymous with 'horrible movie.'
This is the man who is responsible for such cinematic crimes like 'Alone in the Dark,' and 'House of the Dead.'
There hasn't been a single movie of his that hasn't been thoroughly torn into shreds by critics who (surprisingly) took the time to review it in the first place. The good thing about his films is that they provide movie critics with an opportunity to express some of their more creative humor. Check out the reviews for 'Alone in the Dark' over at RottenTomatoes, with these being some of my favorites:
"It's never good when the audience starts laughing as soon as the movie begins -- and nothing has happened."
"[Uwe Boll] makes things on the cheap...so people keep giving him money, even though he doesn’t seem to know how to point a camera at his actors, let alone operate it."
"Alone in the Dark doesn't even deserve the indignity of going straight-to-video"
"The three stars have seen better days, but I'd like to think they could still do something classier and more dignified than this. Like gay porn."
Alone in the Dark is so awful, anyone who spends 10 bucks seeing it ought to get 11 bucks change and a written apology from the director and cast.
I would imagine that this movie would be just as...highly regarded.
