Sins of a Solar Empire
Real-time simulation/strategy game.
I've never been a big fan of simulation games like Civilization but I can't get enough of this game. It reminds me of Homeworld, so playing this brings back some fond memories of that game. Sins, however, is much much deeper than Homeworld (at least from a gameplay point of view. The storyline is kindergarten stuff compared to HW). You get to play as 3 different races: all of which have a number of unique technologies that change the way one would approach the game. For instance, the TEC are a human race based heavily on trade, so a persons focus here would be to develop trade routes, as well as conventional warfare techs (ballistics, etc). Meanwhile the Advent are a race who's main strength lies in their culture. Apparently, it's possible to win a match as the Advent without firing a single shot (don't know how true it is until I play as them myself).
The only downside is the lack of a dedicated storyline for the single player campaign, which really kills any incentive to play this game alone (other than mastering the 3 different races, which is good enough for about a month of heavy playing).
So yea, anyone playing this? It'd be sick if we could get a 5 on 5 TA multiplayer game going. (or 2v2v2v2v2)
