PCV 275 Problems

Hey everyone, i THINK somethings wrong with my PCV275. I say THINK because i'm not sure if it's the mixer or the maybe my stereo system. Basically the sound volume coming out of the mixer is VERY quiet, even if i turn the gains all the way up, put the sliders to max, etc. Also, when it DOES get loud the balance on the left/right speakers is messed up, and if i set the balance to left speaker only the right speaker will play, and if i set it to the right speaker, only the left speaker will play, it's reversed. I'm thinking maybe there was some sort of the power surge or something that messed up the internals.

Anyone have any ideas??

Do you have another stereo to try hooking the system up to?

check all your cables and your sound system first.

Then hook up a CD player and a turntable to check all the inputs.

If the result is the same then you know something is wrong with the mixer, not with anything else.

If you het the same result regardless of CD/TT and inputs, then it's likely the master section that has a problem.

Try hooking up the sends to your amp/speakers (make sure you try both pre and post settings on the switch).

This will tell you if it's the faders that are screwed.

Lastly you can remove the crossfader, and the signal will be sent as if it's in the middle - this will indicate if there is a problem with the crossfader.

hope this helps.

has it ever worked properly?
If it did work properly, have you changed any of the connections since then?
I think I've heard someone say putting your TT inputs into the line inputs can result in very very low volumes.

I dunno, you could know all this, but its worth going back and checking the basics.

It's been a while since I saw the mixer but perhaps it's a simple case of switching between line in (CDJ's) and turntable inputs?
