Newb looking for recommendations

Ive never been a huge 'trance' fan, alot of it has always seemed so linear to me... until lately. A few days ago I was talkin trash about trance and a friend gave me a 3 disc set called, "21st Century Trance 3" and told me to try it out.

The tracks on the first CD are awesome!!!

They are -

01 - Silence
02 - Operation blade
03 - Sandstorm
04 - One nation
05 - Falling
06 - Touch me
07 - The vision
08 - Outta space
09 - Back to earth
10 - Konga
11 - Electric voodoo
12 - Book of revalation
13 - World of love
14 - Don't give up

So after listening to this over and over I want to find more trance like this. I downloaded um.. 'samples' of many other supposed high rated trance comps., and they just do not compare in my ears. Even disc 2 and 3 of this 21st centry thing are not that great.

I dunno what it is about this this CD, I just cant find anything else like it.

Can any of the experts recommend similar style/quality trance?

Thanks!

Anything with the word "Trance" in the title that Ministry of Sound put out between 1999 and 2002 will probably fit the bill.

Out of curiosity, what kinds of "highly recommended" stuff did you listen to that you didn't like?

I love how you transition from "Talkin' trash about Trance" to actually giving us the tracklist.

Sorry for laughing, but you do realize that is one of the most commercial tracklists I've ever seen. Was it a mix or just a compilation of tracks?

I'm in agreeance with RJT. What was the trance you were highly recommended that sounded monotonous and linear?

RJT - "Trance 2005", "Trance 2006", a whole butt load of "DJ Tiesto" (see alot of his name), some "Paul Oakenfold" stuff. Mostly just VA comps.

I was just listening to some daft punk. Some of the "loops" are awesome - but they sure are loops... and loops... and loops...

cmay119 - its def a mix, and in track 2 someone says "public domain kickin it to yah"

Heh like I said, Im a noob.

Awight, will do as soon as I figure out how to do that. (and figure out what exactly that means) Ill do some searches.

I have to agree that in the small ammount of lurking/downloading I have done that most of the stuff from the late 90's is alot better than current tracks/mixes.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

I'd highly recomend:
http://www.full-torqe.tiger-rider.c...py_Oct-7-06.mp3
Morning psy and progressive mix... great flow... great tracks.
http://www.cybernetika.de/mixed_by_...arpcore_III.mp3
Nice start... very energetic with some great atmospheric dark psy tracks.

Unrelated to trance but anyway:

Great liquid funk set... its just good fun music (at a bpm higher than usual... but after about 10 minutes the shock goes away and its great)
