Thumbs down [SEATTLE, WA] Sasha and Digweed were TERRIBLE

I am too tired right now to talk about it, but I am very disapointed with sasha and digweed with their preformance May 11th, at 5050 in Seattle.

For starters.. I left two hours early it was that bad

more info will come soon for now I'm off to bed

Love

blah! i just got back and had a blast! s+d are amazing on the tables. the last hour was killer, the crowd went insane . i rmember reading somewhere that sasha plays one of the tracks from his new album at the end. if that was it, eh damn can't wait for his new album.
Entry into the place was fast and hassle-free. wasn't packed. nice to have 2 rooms with the sound, but the second room seemed to have slighty better speakers.
on the downside. people need to learn how the trash can works and empty bottles can fit in them quite nice.. going to take some time for my feat to heal. non stop moving.

First of all I came to Sasha and Digweed with high expectations. Having listened to Gu013 I excpected somthin of that sort... but to my surprise, exactly what I did not want played was, and everything I wanted played wasnt.

I think theres a sterotype wiht Seattle, based on the fact that this is where grunge rock n roll started, and that things need to be louder and harder here... no! not true! I would have died to just hear one tune, one trance tune.. I had my fingers crossed for punk . but no, I could not recognize one song.. mostly because they were all the same DAMN SONG! The music was also too loud, I know people want to hear it, but it was freakin deafenin.

the worst thing was the music, it was so incredibly horrid. To start we listened to Jimmy Van M, hold the exact same baseline withno changes for around 10-15 minutes.. to get us started. then we would hear a little build up and then BOOM BOOM BOOM, little build up then BOOM BOOM BOOM. It was disghusting; I am flat out unimpressed and ashamed of Sasha and Digweed, because of who I thought they were, and what they would play. It was all like DnB progressive, where synths are a rarity (just like good tunes)

it really pisses me off.. its just a messed up culture.. 2/3 of the people were smoking, and 2/3 of the people weren't even dancing.. It was not fun

so overall I dont think I'm going back anytime soon, to an event, I enjoy sitting wiht my headphones listening to shtuff and dancin in my room... it made me realize why I need to become a good dj/producer... so I can bring TRANCE to seattle.

PS: Sasha and Digweed are dead

jimmy van m wasn't there. he was sick they had someone else take his place.. sasha and digweed don't play trance like you would hear from armin van buuren or tiesto. They play tribal progressive house. i know people have been debating that on the board. but, Sometimes they play a track that might be near trance, but you will proably near here punk, sunburn or any trance anthem or any trance that isn't boarder lining some other genre also. btw some nice tunes like night. what was that remix of lustral - evertime ?

Well why not just go to a trancier event then? I don't know what the club scene is like in Seattle, but it doesn't make much sense turning to a Sasha and Diggers set if you want to hear 5 hours of trance anthems. They aren't trance dj's. It makes about as much sense as me turning up to a Ferry Corsten set and complaining when he doesn't drop any slammin house grooves.

I seriously hope you're kidding. :-/

If you don't like "little build up and then BOOM BOOM BOOM" music (I think the word you're looking for is "progressive") then, like I said before, why'd you bother turning up?

John Digweed and Sasha are, by all accounts, two incredibly innovative dj's, who have pioneered a form of music that relies on "complex subtlety" that has converted millions world-wide - myself included - to a new, revolutionary form of music. Give it a chance and I think you'll see where I'm coming from.

I don't mean to sound like a tit, but I don't think you have any right to complain when you turn up to an event and then winge simply because the dj's are catering to the tastes of the other 3,000 people in the room and not just yours. It's called musical education - think of it as a learning experience rather than something you're otherwise just going to dismiss as "disghusting".

inatrance...

dammit...i thought you knew what Sasha and Diggers were about!!!! No way should you have expected to hear trance (not a single trance tune) all night.

Now you see where i'm coming from when i previously said that their music was "not to my taste"....if you had downloaded some of Diggers Kiss 100 sets from DjMixes2k and listened, you'd have a general idea of what Diggers is about. Same with Sasha. I got Sasha and Diggers Communication CD, and DIgger's LA Global Underground CD, and have some of their live sets, so i know they're STRICTLY PROGRESSIVE/TRIBAL HOUSE, not trance.....

that's why i didn't go....that's too bad you dropped nearly $50 or so and not enjoyed, but realize that just cos they dont spin what you like, they're still one of the best dj's in the world and ppl love them....

first of all there was not even 1,000 people
second of all there isn't a trance scene in seattle

AND YES I WANTED TO HEAR PUNK, I love that song... better than what they played
