ya ya ya its @ western, but ill be playing a set from 11-12 on concrete beach (outside the UCC) in support of this fundraiser. so if u got nothing else to do, come swing by
Every year, the Western chapter of World University Services of Canada (WUSC) hosts it's annual Bike for AIDS. Bike for AIDS is essentially a bike-a-thon, concert, and an after-party, all in an effort to raise money to purchase bikes for AIDS workers in Malawi, Africa. Each bike allows an AIDS worker to visit 4 times the number of patients and orphans than they would have been able to reach without a bike. That one bike ultimately affects the lives of tens of thousands of people over the course of just one year. Over the last two years we have been able to raise almost $15,000, purchasing over 70 bikes for the AIDS workers.
This is where YOU come in. We're encouraging YOU
to participate in this year's Bike for AIDS by forming a team of up to 10 people and registering yourself in our bike-a-thon. From 11am to 4pm, one team member must ride the bike for a total time of 5 hours (11am to 4pm). So, for example, each member of 10-person team person could ride the bike for half an hour. Each team is also responsible for raising a MINIMUM OF $300, the cost of one bike. Some amazing prizes will be given to the team that raises the most money and to the team that has the most team spirit, with participant prizes being raffled off throughout the day.
Registration takes place at 9:30am on April 3 out on Concrete Beach. Registration forms can be downloaded from our website at www.BIKEFORAIDS.ca. You can also pick up a package from our booth the UCC between 10:30am to 4:30pm from Thursday, March 27 to Wednesday, April 2.
