From where to start with Ableton?

I have ableton live 7.0 and I watched some tutorials about Ableton. I understand most of the complicated things but I don't know the simplest things. I don't know what sounds to load and from where to get this sounds. I know it sounds a bit weird So if anyone can give me some points and directions I'll really appreciate that. Please more help :-)
Thanks and cheers

I watched. I can't find any sounds, samples or loops in my Ableton. I was searching in the library. Nothing there, only effects.

here is what you do.

first go to preferences is in the options menu. then click the tap titled products. then go to search for more live packs. and make sure there are not any showing up that are not installed.

to access your samples

look at the left hand side of the screen there is a button that looks like a camera 1 camera 2 and camera 3. go to the button camera 1. then go to the right hand corner of the screen and click the button with three vertical lines. then go back to the left of the list that was brought up after you pressed camera 1. and start dragging the clips sounds samples or whatever you wanna use to a channel in the center of the screen.

to dj with ableton

go to the right side of the screen and click the horizontal line button. this brings up arrangement mode. now drag your mp3s into the arrangement and sit there and mingle with them until you get them matched up. NOT ALL TRACKS MIX SMOOTHLY.

send me a PM if you wanna learn to crossfade.

I'd say that it's a lot easier if you sat down and read the manual or use the tutorials that come with the program.

I sat down with a friend yesterday and saw Ableton in action for the first time and I've already stopped using FL Studio and plan on moving all my tracks over to Ableton.

i would maybe re-think what your doing, I have noticed tracks produced or from ear sound like they are produced with ableton are not SYNCHed 200 percent correctly. Terry Bones produces with fruity loops and he is a badass producer.

dude the way I see it the more people start using ableton to dj with then that increases the chances of me being able to use it.

If I'm understanding correctly, you are saying you know how to basically use Ableton - from a technical perspective... and you are wondering how to use it creatively now? You mentioned that you were curious what sounds to use and where to find them... If so, fyi... Ableton has built in sounds, but the vast majority of production that takes place in Ableton is with outside sounds - synths, soft synths, loops, samples, etc. In other words, the sounds come from everywhere. One recommendation may be to get something like Reason - that offers a great deal of versatility in Rewire mode to get sounds started.

If you don't have sounds and want to just mess around with the stuff that comes with it, be sure you loaded everything on the install (assuming it is purchased) - the library and everything. Then, open the library (if you've gone through the tutorials and manual this will be easy to find) and start dragging and dropping to the sequencer...

I literally read the manual cover to cover - I'd recommend that if you haven't done that yet, do that first.
