Good Intro Tracks

You know, it's almost impossible to tell which tracks are good to use for an intro just by listening to online samples. I for one hate starting my mixes by dropping in a kick. So, here are some intro tunes that I have found recently and hope you guys will share some gems you've come across as well - any sub-genre will do.

  1. 4Mal - Twilight (Intro Mix) [Trancey]
  2. Marco Petralia - Come Back feat. Jimmie Wilson (Erick Decks & Marco Petralia Vocal Edit) [Deep-ish House]
  3. Blake Jarrell - Animal (Original Mix) [Progressive House]
  4. Paolo Mojo - Paris (Renaissance Intro Mix) [Progressive House]

Almost every psytrance track can be used as an intro.

Some are definitely better than others.

I used to try and find a popular rock-ish song, and just mess around before hand and try to see if I could mix out of it. Added a nice touch to the intro.

I think before (when I used to mix trance/house/whatever) I used White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. It just adds a bit of surprise to the intro, especially if you keep it off the tracklist.

Nowadays I spin mostly mashups/top 40/hip-hop, so I start with whatever would be "out of the ordinary" and sounds good. I find the intro doesn't really need to go with the rest of the set. Like a paper for high school, you need to use an attention getter, that would be the way I would phrase what I try and do.

Sometimes it sounds AWFUL, other times it really makes the set, thats why you need to experiment.

a friend of mine used this tech house track as the intro to one of his sets and it sounded really good:

Sascha Funke - Mango (Original Mix)
or even
Sascha Funke - Chemin Des Figons (Electronica)
