On the 26th of March Paul van Dyk was a guest on Emily Tan’s SIRIUS show which was held at the Raleigh Hotel Penthouse during Winter Music Conference 2008. Website berlinista.com reported Paul van Dyk revealed an upcoming remix contest during the interview.
"Paul who is nominated for 8 IDMA (International Dance Music Award) which doesn’t really come as a surprise, talked about some upcoming Beatport “Paul van Dyk remix competition” - not knowing if he should really talk about it cause it still might not be officially announced. As he told Emily, the
listeners will be able to download samples from his current album to do some remix and send it to Beatport to enter the competition and maybe win one of the prizes."
With the recent success of the Sasha Mongoose competition, Beatport can anticipate to judge another huge load of remixes if this contest goes live. They received over 600 Mongoose remixes - if you think about it, a number almost impossible to judge. Beatport made a selection of finalists for Sasha's team to pick a winner from. Though the winning track certainly has an edge, you can find remixes of
Mongoose on the web that can easily compete with it and may have been a better candidate. Choosing from over 600 tracks it's hard not to make it a lottery!
How many remixers would want to remix a Paul van Dyk track? Over a 1000? Good luck Beatport
We'll post contest details as soon as we know more.
The Paul van Dyk remix contest operates in two phases; the first involves a submission period for remixes (from May 12th through June 2nd), and the second involves a voting period by users from within the Beatportal community (from June 3rd through June 23rd).
pfff, vu la seconde phase, c'est même pas la peine...
edit:
Au temps pour moi, y'a aussi en prime une selection faite par Beatport, puis par PvD lui-même :
