King Finally got some decks!

I got some decks, 2 1210mk2's with some crappy needles, and a not so great mixer, and all I can say is I SUCK! it's horrible, but of course that's how it goes, and yes I know practice practice practice

btw I got a stanton SMX-201 mixer, and I dunno if like it (of course I don't have much experience with these sort of things) I'm seriously considering exchanging it neer the end of the month when I can pony up some cash and get say a vestax PCV-275

well, the pcv 275 is a top of the line mixer. and it is serious money. like 400 us. and if you are just starting to mix, and find that you don't like it as much as you thought you would, then you are out a lot of money. i dunno, the 275 is a frickin awsome mixer, but considering you just started, and it is a lot of money...well.

whatever, just think it through!!!

so true, it would be much wiser to put that money toward vinyl so let me rethink what I just said and ask this: is my mixer worthy?

Hey mate,
nice choice of dexx.
Let me start of by saying, it's not the size of the sword, but the skill of the swordsman. I would do as the dude above said. Buy some vinyl, get that collection happening. That way you can practice. And if you do hate it after all, you can sell your stuff without loosing much money. But lets not talk about quiting, just lucky you bought technics as they hold their value quite well!
anyhow, good news.
cya

dude, here's the best thing to do. ask your local store to match hollywooddj's price on pcv 275. Then if you don't like Djing or w.e(hope that doesn't happen) you can sel it on eBay, and even make a few bucks, lol

Just wanna say that the mixer is not the critical variable in a DJ's setup. The skills are, and also the turntables (though even that is secondary).

I think it's silly to waste more money now. Just buy some records and start accumulating your vinyl collection. Believe me, you don't need a super-mega-cool mixer.

hey congrats man!

i just got two M3D's a few days ago... Don't stress about your suckage... just take it slow at first, dont expect much... and try not to get frustrated. concentrate on just matching records...
once you get a feel for the vynil, and your ears start to distinguish the beats from each deck, it will suddenly become more obvious.

took me two nights and i can pretty much throw down two records and at least match them... transistions are tricky as of yet!

IMHO it's best to concentrate of technical skills before transitions and the real flow of the music.

a nice mixer would help... but you can learn on almost anything... it only gets easier with better equiptment

you might want to check out the Shure M44G's ... they sure do sound good and i bagged a set for $90, 2 complete cartridges, i think they are a good value.. ill probably get ortofons , but mainly for the look and feel of them (they look TIGHT), the M44Gs are great though. they mount on a standard technics headshell.

tell us how your doing and have fun.. you'll get better
