Thanks, getting this right now. I've been looking for some good dubstep mixes and/or compilations.

Eh, I haven't really checked out the rest of their releases (IDM and stuff), but when it comes to dubstep, I'm very pleased.

How long have you been listening to dubstep?

Um, I think it's been almost 3 years now. It was after the Vex'd album was released, so mid to late 2005.

Noice. That's pretty much from the beginning of dubstep, right?
How did you get exposed to it since you're not from the UK?

No, the dubstep scene has been around ever since the FWD>> night was started in 2000 or 2001. The name "dubstep" was coined much later though, in 2003 (when it started moving further away from dark garage).

Planet Mu is a pretty well-known and prolific label, regardless of where you live. Exposure is unavoidable when big players like that are involved.

can't say i've heard that much dubstep on planet mu, allthough i often listen to their breakcore material (if that's the correct term), mainly venetian snares.

gonna put this one in one of my lp cover holders up on the wall. so classy, and what an album title.

I cannot talk about their dubstep releases, and how are they doing in comparison to other labels in that scene since I've heard just a small amount of stuff off their compilations (200, Evangeline), but their IDM, breakcore and acid stuff is very solid. I think Venetian Snares is the hottest producer signed to Mu atm, and his new album Detrimentalist is just too good (and too fucked up). Luke Vibert had a great 2007 with very pleasurable acidic electro album and an EP, just like an old techno legend Neil Landstrumm who released very interesting experimental techno album Restaurant Of Assassins. µ-Ziq's own stuff on Planet Mu is not as interesting as his old stuff on Rephlex, but even he had some hits like Wergle The Proud from Ease Up EP and his newest album Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique.

Some great music to be found there, no doubt. Recently I enjoyed that new Meat Beat Manifesto album, and of course Venetian Snares. Need to sift through their back catalogue, as I found out about the label only last year.

Can you recommend me some good dubstep labels?

I ought to check out Venetian Snares, I've been wanting to do that for quite some time now.
