OK, so since we were on the subject of vocals in another thread, it got me to thinking about something. You hear a lot of what I can only term as "vocal instruments" or "vocal pads" in a lot of released tracks by the "pros". You know, the various "oohhs" and "aahhs" and what not.

I was always wondering where these guys come up with these samples.

I figured that some of the larger producers are probably taking bits from vocal tracks they have recorded for previous songs (think A&B - Air for Life) and I have heard several samples that seemed like they were ripped from "pr0n", but it seems like a lot of the "not quite as big" producers are coming up with these samples from other sources.

Where the hell do they come up with that stuff? Are they just that resourceful?

I usually record my singing, then water it with some fxs, takes time tho...

You could always use a formant filter or similar to produce vowel sounds?

This is very synthetic sounding, but I guess if done right it'd sound ok. Samples are prob the way to go though
