Deadmau5 @ Irving Plaza review

Venue:
Ok, thought it was kind of shit at first. Guidos, kids, douchebags, whatever. Some dumb shit knocked my overpriced drink out of my hand and was like, sorry, I dont have any money, well yeah, bcs you're twelve. Take off your ski goggles idiot. But,... as soon as Joel hit the stage, all was forgiven, and thank god they turned the lights down .Way too bright during Sleepy & Boo and BSOD.

Music: killed it. Dirty, dirty. So much so I think I need a bath. Joel, did you research NYC and know we like our dirty minimal? An amazing hour or so of all Deadmau5 originals but with nice dirty mini loops between them. Loved it.

Encores, two of them for fucks sake. Granted it was only 2:30 (damn you irving plaza). I really wanted to hear a non vocal version of Faxing Berlin for a sexy encore, but the tracks that were dropped (tiesto and then 'reward is cheese' was it?) were pretty solid.

Overall awesome night. The venue was iffy, but I appreciate it wasn't some douche bag club like Pacha were every other 'big name dj' plays but is only full of $$$ and wankers. Also, the goodbye USB stick, it has EPS and PSD files on it for shits sake, and Joel was loving the dude with the 3G iPhone. As a nerd my self (iPhone developer by trade) it's cool that the geeks can own as well. Looking forward to the next Deadmau5 NYC visit,

I said I wasn't going to drink

fcuk that!

Then I said I wasn't going to open up a tab

Hahahahahahha

This was awesome, I'm so glad I went. Leaving for Rhode Kill now. Smooches I heart everyone.

PS... Couldn't get into WH, wtf?!?! 25-30 bucks no way! Not for an hour. And then we tried to go to afterhours. Eff that too. I love Core, and I follow them around the city as much as I can, but 20 bucks to get in, kiss my ass

Ahhhhh hostile drunk Erica.

Press materials, logos, wallpaper, a hour mix set, some vids of Joel doing things in his mouse hat.

Awesome night. Got there too late to see sleepy & boo open but i did get a chance to hear em play at some point (I dont remember when, after BSOD i think?) and they were excellent. BSOD were really good too, I specially like how joel would mix and the other guy would "scratch" or mess with it, was very cool.

And of course, Deadmau5 was fucking amazing. He played sooo many of his token productions... along with a bunch of stuff ive never heard before but were terrific, im looking forward to a tracklist and recording for this night (by the way, did someone say this event was going to be recorded?) I liked how he was techy/breakbeat and some points.

Best moment of the night: When Deadmau5 mixed the Longest Road vs. Faxing Berlin into HArder, Better, Faster, stronger (some remix) vs. The Reward is Cheese.
