Audio slows down to about half speed...

Does anyone else experience this...

Im playing something in winamp, of maybe even youtube, wotever..., I then open up reason, and as it is at the welcome splash screen, I presume it initializes something on the soundcard or something, but whatever it does, it slows ALL of my audio output (other than reason) down by half, the only way I can get rid of it is by rebooting.

Strange. What kind of system are you running? On board sound, ram, processor, etc.? Only reason I ask is that ram clears when you reboot, so maybe you just don't have enough power/ram to handle it? I don't know... Is Reason loading a blank slate, or a full song? That could have some impact on the resources it's using. And of course... Not to insult you or anything... But is it a legit copy?

Its 2.6Ghz with 2GB of ram and using a audiophille 2496 soundcard, and loading to an empty track.

It never used to do it, but seems to do it quite frequently now, it can be quite funny listening to some things at half speed, but also can be quite annoying when you want to watch/listen to something! lol

Here's what I'd do to work out what the problem is.

1) Check to see what programs start when your pc does. Also run a virus/spyware scan

2) Check to see if there are newer drivers for your sound card.

3) Try another OS

4) Try putting it in a computer that doesn't have the problem

5) Try another sound card and see if it still happens.

Thats the sample rate of your soundcard going down to 22khz.

Try and see if you can lock the samplerate at 44khz, most soundcards has a lock option.

haha i have the same problem. you should stop any audio when opening reason, should not be too hard. My system is really off right now, desperately needs a reformat, im assuming this will fix your problem as well as mine.

you know what, when the pitch goes down, it makes some of sounds a lot cooler. But you can never capture it slow-downed unless done externaly ;[

I think you may of hit the nail on the head there!, the thing is, it doesnt happen all the time so it's difficult to test. I checked the M-Audio control panel and there is an option under "Sample Rate" called "Rate Locked", so I have set it to 44khz (as it already was) and have ticked the rate locked box, so I will now just keep an eye on it.

Thanks!!

I was being serious, that's probably what I would do if I had this issue.
