i've never been to one, but my friend wants to go see batman in IMAX (again, he's already seen it in imax), but the tickets are sold out on friday and i'd rather go on then.

Its worth it. Regular movies are all ready expensive might as well get the best viewing. There are only a few movies a year worth seeing on IMAX. Batman is one of them. I saw 300 on IMAX and it was totally worth it. Im trying to see Batman next weekend on IMAX when I get back from my trip. Hopefully it wont be as crowded. I sit at the very top middle.

The difference between IMAX and normal cinema is the same as the difference between normal cinema and watching a movie on a small screen in your lounge room.

most IMAX movies (at museums or whatever) are pointless crap derived to make you sick from helicopter fly over scenes.
went to see batman today and it was totally sold out.
oh, and Dark Knight is the first feature actually filmed with IMAX stock, most are just blown up to the incredible screen size. thats why ima wait til there are tix available|

I want to see it in imax. The only thing I've ever seen in imax are shite documentaries about palm trees and dying stars, and the last time I went was like a decade ago. I'm interested in seeing what they've done since then.

imax shots were awesome for the rooftop shots. the scenes are noticeable as they use the ENTIRE height of the screen. for non-imax scenes, the movie goes back to regular letterbox format.

not worth it. Just go to a theater with digital projectors, same fee as normal projector theaters and it's clear as hell.
So there is a double in ticket price with IMAX, but not a double in quality.
