Satellite Photography

I actually found these collections of photos a while ago, but never bothered to share them. They are certainly worthy though.
Taken from US satellites, these photos cover areas all over the world, from the Fjords of Norway to the deserts of Australia.

EARTH AS ART GALLERY 1

EARTH AS ART GALLERY 2

The aim of the project was specifically to take pictures with an aesthetic, rather than scientific, focus. They've been highlighted with various colours and often the description will tell you what is being represented.

The shots are huge, some as big as 8000 x 8000, and as a result are around 25MB, but if you can bother downloading them they are well worth the effort. I want to get a few blown up for my wall.

These photos are all free, but there are some you can purchase on the site that are 1GB!

lol at how wrong you are. Do you really think multi million/billion dollar satellites were sent up to take pretty pictures? All of those have a specific scientific purpose - but those are the ones that happen to be aesthetically pleasing. Think of these as dumbed down images for the general population to take in and appreciate.

As opposed to the intellectual satellite photos?

No, as in lacking any useful scientific data/metadata. No vertical or horizontal datum given - no georeferenced 'world' file associated - no projection information given - no legend to represent what the colors stand for - no real explanation as to what the picture deals, outside of the obvious.

I.E. Dumbed down.

Way to take my post literally.

Is this better?

I would love to be able to get some posters of these, any sites that can print them out at a reasonable price?
