Hey, I am moving from northern NJ to LA within 2 months or so and I have a question about the traffic.
If I were to live in Santa Monica and work in Sylmar, what time would I have to leave my house to miss most of the traffic? 6:30am?

Depends what time you need to arrive.

going east in the morning isn't that bad just leave early on the first day so you can gauge your time, but 10 minutes can make a huge different in traffic in the morning. once you pass downtown it shouldn't be that crowded though. if you need to be at work by 8 am id say try leaving at at like 645 or so.

Well if I had to be at work in Sylmar by 7am, I think I could leave my place in Santa Monica at 6:25am or so? I don't think the traffic could be that bad so early, could it?

Where in Sylmar do YOU work? My hubby works at the building you might see with flags on top off the 210 freeway near the 118. It used to have big banners on the wall with girls
