Why does Ontario keep voting Liberal?

Why? why do we elect Liberal time and time again? And for that matter, why do we re-elect the same city councillors along with mayor miller? I am convinced that Ontario and especially Toronto is suffering from battered voters' syndrome. We just keep coming back for more punches!

BTW i predict a conservative majority with or without Soviet Ontaristan

wow..one of the few posts that I like from you...

I hope they do win a majority...

The worst thing that could happen is another minority government...

I am coming around to the idea of a conservative majority, except I am really concerned about the re-opening of the abortion debate and, to a lesser extent, gay marriage. Have they mentioned these issues since election talk started brewing?

The other thing is that Harper's biggest selling point for me is that until recently, they haven't coddled Ontario's manufacturing sector...but now they're prolonging Ford's inevitable demise with tax payer money and it blurs the lines between parties.

nope, no mention of the Gay/Abortion talk..

I'm guessing that he's going to be keeping that low key since its unlikely that much has changed..

mostly because their typical response to cities and anything not directly under their umbrella mandate is to 'deal with it yourself', tho they piss off a lot of people in embracing dubious matters regarding rights.

cities do need special funding, and so do the various components that drive the economy. these are usually ignored in favour of relying on market forces and less government, which works fine when the economy rolls and the taxes do in turn, but not so much when that's not the case, and the downloading of responsibility has been of the likes ontario has seen in the past decade.

why? The election has just been called. The platforms aren't released, the debates haven't been held yet. Why be like an American and make up your mind now?

A lot of you seem to like using drugs on this messageboard. A Harper majority isn't going to do anything toward the eventual decriminilisation of one of your favourite "weeds", just so you know.

Of course, there are much larger issues, like the environment, but Canadians seem to be adopting the attitude of "oh well it won't be really bad until after I"m dead so who cares?" What plans does Harper's party have exactly?

If you want mid-late 1980s back again, then go ahead and vote for Harper. His self admitted role model is Brian Malroney and I'm sure some of us remember how well that worked out last time.

you can blame the voters or you can blame the politicians who fail to appeal to said voters.

We go to the polls in a month. Harper has basically been in a job interview since the last election. I'm free to form opinions of him to base my next vote on.
