The NO on Prop 8 thread....

I was actually trying to get a benefit together to support the "No on Prop 8" cause but came up with the idea too late and just didn't have the time to get it together by the date I needed to.
So how bout at least a thread Interested to see the opinions of this board. I'm sure you all have one and I would hope you're all pretty much on the same page. Believe it or not they do need a lot of help. Many religious groups are putting in a lot of time and money to get this prop passed. That angers me and I hope it angers you.
In case you don't know much about it or are interested in donating, the website is http://www.noonprop8.com
I feel this is really something to get behind here.

One would think that we would interrupt this thread to encourage people to register to vote in this election, but no instead you are asking everybody to vote 40 year old dj's that don't allow any new talent to get ahead of them.

Maannnnnnnnnnn, I had a couple come to my door back in the beginning of Sept asking us to vote yes on 8. Man I was laughing on the inside. They have kids that go to my daughters school and they mentioned how they dont want their kids to be taught about gay marriages in school. I'm thinking wtf not?! Its part of our world now, stop living in a cave! I laugh at this whole thing cause its funny. Jeremy, you know the town we live in...this damn city is so anal and strict its sick. I think we need to shake this city up and post NO on 8 everywhere!!!!!!

thanks for this post!

me and my man have been together for almost nine years...and all this prop does is hurt me directly... gay marriage has nothing to do with the church or anyone else... i hope you all vote NO on 8 also

here is some more info on the prop:

Prop 8 eliminates marriage for same-sex couples.

VOTE NO!

Regardless of how you feel about this issue, we should always guarantee the same fundamental rights and equality for every Californian. Vote No on 8.

Let's remember that gay and lesbian people are our neighbors, our friends, our co-workers, and our family members. They are nurses, firefighters and small business owners. Like any of us, they love and make commitments for life, and just like other couples, they take care of each other, pay taxes, and want to protect and take responsibility for each other. We should not hurt same-sex couples in California by eliminating their right to marry. Vote No on 8.

It’s not the government’s place to tell couples who have been together for years whether or not to marry. In California, we let people decide what is best for themselves - without government interference. Eliminating fundamental rights for same-sex couples would treat them differently under the law - AND THAT'S WRONG. Vote No on 8.

Domestic partnerships are NOT the same as marriage. Domestic partnerships are only legal documents. The don't provide the same dignity, respect and legal protection as a marriage. In a marriage, a paramedic doesn't tell you that you cannot get into the ambulance with your spouse unless you have a paper or a lawyer. Married couples can automatically make life or death decisions for each other in these crisis situations, no questions asked. Vote No on 8.

Regardless of how you feel about this issue, it's unfair to eliminate a fundamental right of fellow Californians - and permanently hurt our friends, neighbors, co-workers and family members. THAT'S WRONG.

VOTE NO ON Prop 8!

“Proposition 8…would eliminate the fundamental right to same-sex marriage.

Supporters of Proposition 8 make two arguments. The first is that, for thousands of years, marriage has been defined as between a man and a woman exclusively. Considering how Californians historically have been wide open to change, this appeal is not likely to carry much force.

The second argument made by supporters is that children should be raised solely by a father and a mother, not by two fathers or two mothers. Yet the debate over child-rearing is entirely beside the point, because Proposition 8 is about marriage only. It would do nothing to prevent gay couples from adopting children or from having children through artificial means. Indeed, all Proposition 8 would do is ensure that the children of gay couples would be raised in households where the parents were unmarried.
Would that be a healthier situation for children?

In the past, this page has advocated civil unions for gay couples rather than marriage. But our thinking has changed, along with that of many other Californians. Gay and lesbian couples deserve the same dignity and respect in marriage that heterosexual couples have long enjoyed. We urge a No vote on Proposition 8.

Someone I know posted a thing on facebook with the obvious disdain for "what this world is coming to" in regards to this. I almost bitched her out right on there, but refrained. I almost called her a bad Christian for it.

I would punch ******s in the face if they come to my door preaching the sanctity of marriage. 60+% of all marriages end up in divorce. Marriage is a business proposition nowadays in any case.

Not only that, it is hard as fuck to get divorced, but they make it easy as fuck to get into the shit position of bad marriages. If that isn't ass backwards, I don't know what is.
