You need to make sure the gain/trim on your incoming track is set correctly. The gain knob makes sure that the two separate mix sources are at the same volume. Just because the faders are both at 100% doesn't mean that the tracks will be the same volume.
Steps:
1. Song A is playing.
2. Start song B, the incoming track, playing in your cans and make sure it is the only track playing in there.
3. Fast forward to a "busy" part of the song with full melody, bass and percussion playing.
4. Look at the "cue volume" meter on your mixer and make sure the lights are peaking at 0db or just under.
5. Cue song B and start mixing in.
6. Repeat.
