edits and quantizing questions

i've been dj'ing edm for 2.5 years and haven't really considered playing hip hop until recently. i really just wanna be a little more well rounded. problem is, i am in the dark on it unless i'm mixing basic 4bar extended intros to outros. im curious as to what percentage of tracks are edits in a hip hop or top 40 set. is there anywhere to buy them? or is it a do it yourself deal? to do it do i need to buy the original and the instrumental and drop a couple bars in the front from the instrumental to the original? Would i use something like audacity to do this or is there a better program? if anyone has any hip hop sets with some popular songs in it that i could use to get a better understanding of whats going on it would be really awesome. i realized i dont have a single hip hop or top40 set.

also, i've been thinking that quantizing a classic rock song or whatever and dropping it in a set as a breakdown would be kinda fun, and was curious to how one goes about quantizing a song.

sorry if this is a repost i haven't seen anything like this on here in a while

Basically, the standard is to do ab 8-bar (32 beat) intro/outro for hip-hop edits (if you're going to use edits at all).

If you're just starting out with hip-hop, then I'd recommend using extended intro versions like that. There are ways of buying them (Mixshow Ingredients is a pretty good service), but I prefer to just do it on my own.
