hey Jeff, heard some stuff about you on the TOTA forum so I listened to it and wow! I can't wait for parts 2 & 3! What a silky smooth house set which starts off very groovy and ends on a note that when Lee Burridge starts playing, the crowd can explode. Must've been a great night. There were some times though were I felt you made the set a bit peaktime prog around 21 minutes.
Overall, I loved it. Would you mind posting up a tracklist? |
Glad you liked it
So here is the story behind this set......
I knew about the gig for months, and had somewhat of a gameplan going in. For some odd reason, I didn't feel right about something. Last minute, I decided to scrap the original tracks I had lined up - and I cleaned out my entire inbox with random promos I had yet to download, as well as my Beatport crate (40 tracks or so). Keep in mind I started downloading/burning these tracks about three hours before the night began. I literally burnt the final CD of my new material, TWO MINUTES before I had to run out the door and drive to the club. I had not mixed any of these tracks, nevermind even play any of these tracks, with the exception of the samples on Beatport. I gave a quick 5 second preview of each track to give it an 'open', 'middle' or 'close' label and just crossed my fingers and hoped it would work.
Though the whole ordeal was stressful, I loved every minute of it. Toward the end when a track would hit a high point, I was reacting the same way as the crowd since it was just as new to me as it was to them.
Not sure I'll ever try doing it like this again, but glad I did it this time around
