Having or not having a sub makes no difference for mixing. It makes a difference for the people listening to the mix, but not for the DJ. Actually a few places I've played at were setup very poorly, so the subwoofers gave me a little bit of trouble with feedback and delay making it even tougher to mix.

Thanks Zild, i just wasn't sure if having a centre speaker would be better so you could hear the mix quicker than from the L&R speakers, ie being able to rectify your mixes quicker if the record starts to slip out.

We use the headphones for that.

I use headphones to listen to cued channels and monitors to listen to the main mix. I know some people who listen to both the cue and main mix in their headphones, but I like to have them separate.
