I would say Ableton, due to it's warping capability.

Or, Traktor would work pretty well if you just want to do it live and try to pull a one-off recording.

I've tried my hand at Ableton before and lost my patience with it. Is it easy to use just for the purpose of what I need it for?

I don't have much experience with Ableton, but I think this will be pretty straightforward.

That Airbase tutorial is spot on, 99% of EDM tunes shouldn't take more than a minute to warp. Plus once you've done that, it's a piece of piss to chop and change the arrangement of the tune in the (very aptly named) Arrangement view.

if you can't figure out ableton you won't figure out anything.
