Thumbs up Feedback on semi finished track would be nice

Hello all,

I'm about 12 months into the long journey of figuring out how all this works (music creation and production that is) and have ended up buying Cubase4/Reason4/Predator/Sylenth to aid that journey!

This track is a semi finished track and the end break can be ignored as it's just a few blocks randomly placed to try and finish it eventually. It's also not mixed at all so the kick get lost regularly.

I have no idea what genre you would call it but then I'm not really that bothered either

Any feedback would be appreciated

Great ideas.

The kick is down-right anemic. Once the track gets going, the overall mix looses some of its clarity and begins sounding muddy.

Keep working on it. At first, when I listened, it sounded very generic and familiar, but you put some really brilliant change-ups in it that made it worthwhile. You might try getting to your hook, a little sooner, but it's not necessary. If I were you, I'd focus on developing the track, further, in so far as its complexity continuum, work on the mix, and develop the kick.

What you have, as a work in progress, is definitely the right direction.

I appreciate the feedback.

To be honest it's the first full track i've tried to complete that isn't just a piss about of ideas. As a fan on running an arp then fiddling with the cutoff i've probably got too much going on as well. The novice inside me (or in/out/all over me) is still struggling with compression and EQ as well so the muddiness is as you point out everywhere.

I do have an offer from somebody to mix it for me once it's structure is finished, including a run down of exactly what he's done as well.

Personally i'm not fussed about it sounding generic but i'm not disagreeing or being critical of your comment either I'm just happy to get something that sounds semi decent FINISHED at last and learn a lot in the process.

Once again thanks from the critique, much appreciated.
