this is not the first time something like this has happened in TO nor will it be the last.. i think the fact that such incidents have occurred in such a short span of time, i.e. Keele-Eglinton shooting, Osgoode Subway shooting, and this drive by will simply phase the public psyche at least for the short while.. a la Jane Creba Boxing Day incident

one could argue that most of these incidents are probably between known individuals if not those who share a similar idea for conflict "resolution" but the fact that they occur in such public places is will obviously be disconcerting to some..

"People are putting innocent people's lives at risk." Toronto police and the OPP locked down the gym, not allowing anyone in or out, until they were able to question the victims and get information from any witnesses at the gym. Investigators closed part of the westbound lanes for several hours, bringing the late-night traffic to a standstill. Drummond said investigators will be reviewing the Ministry of Transport cameras along the highway to gather more information about the SUV.

Personally...

I'm more afraid of a tire falling off a big-rig infront of me, or someone throwing a rock/brick off a road while i'm going under a bridge then being shot at while driving...

That is very low on my list of driving concerns...

I agree there are more important things to worry about when driving, but i feel like there have been an increase of stupid acts of violence in the past years that simply shouldnt be happenening! i just think you shouldnt have to be worried about a stray bullet when you have semis, drunk drivers and aggresive drivers to worry about.

i still think that TO has a far lower murder rate per capita than a lot of other places in Canada. Despite the high publicity these incidents get, with some common sense you're probably far less likely to be shot/stabbed/robbed, etc. here than you are in say Winnipeg..

I feel safe in Toronto..i am more aware of things considering i was attacked at a club a year ago..(long story and it's already been discussed in a thread)..but in general i am more worried about getting into a car accident...the drivers in toronto are much more scarier than anyone else...plus i grew up in the jane and finch area..went to cw jefferys..i'm not easily freaked out..

yeah...that is true...but we all know the reason why Winnipeg's murder rate is so high....

there should be metal detectors on all highways to keep us more safe.
