Sad --==!!HELP!!==--

Iv just got a virus c synth and am playing it though cubase 5.1 VST, i use an m-audio quattro to take the audio signal from the synth into cubase but i cant find a way to record the whole mix coming out of cubase into an audio file. When i hit export in cubase it only exports the audio tracks, not the output coming from the synth, ne ideas????Thanks!!!!

the most handy thing would be guiding the synth and the pc output thru a mixer and recording that mixer's output to for instance a minidisk.

Do you run the virus to the pc line in?
then you can try using a separate recording program like Cooledit...not sure if this will work

I do exactly what Pjotr said. It is not ideal because Minidisk throws away 80% of the *unheard* musical data. The sound quality do get degraded when recording on to a minidisk.

There's a good tutorial on dancetech on how to record your song properly.

Good Tutorial on Dancetech

PS: I can't do it that way because of the latency on my soundcard

I run the output of the virus into the soundcard and can have reason and the virus running through cubase and using the channel mixer in cubase quite hapily. The problem is i cant get the output to be recorded straight onto hard disk without leaving the sound card which doesnt make sense and should be possible somehow. Iv tried using cool edit but it doesnt support the ASIO drivers. What to do?

I use Sonar, and what I do is called "arm" the track.. basically its a button that says which track is going to get the recorded audio data. then I press the record button, and it records my synth in real time onto the armed track.

dont know how exactly u'd do this in cubase thouhg

Recording Audio
If you are only recording Audio, select Multi Record Merge mode.
Create as many Audio Tracks as desired and set them all to different channels.
The number of Tracks you can record on is limited by the number of inputs you have access
to. If you only have two audio inputs, you can only record two different audio sources.
Make sure all Tracks are set to separate audio inputs.
This is done by holding down [Ctrl] and clicking on the Input button in the Inspector, and se-lecting
an Input from the pop-up menu that appears.
Click in the “R” column for each Track, to set them up for recording.
Enable recording for each Track by clicking the Record Enable button in the Inspector.
The audio channels will now be recorded on one Track each.
