Dj Shadow

Ive been listening to this guys music for about 2 years now. He is simply brilliant when it comes to production and mixing. Just wanted to know if there was a "Shadow following". Anyone heard his new album, ive heard a few tracks, sounds like some more vintage productions!!!

He produces more of a trip hop type sound.
But its hard to classify the kind of music he puts out, i just call it "Shadow" its his own sound.

DJ Shadow rules. and Jason Davis (Shadow) is one of the greatest samplers of all time. His style is a cross between triphop, hiphop and jazzy house. All his sounds are completely sampled from other tracks, which makes me respect him even more. His new album "Private Press" is out but i havent heard it yet. His other two albums, "Preemptive Strike" and "Endtroducing" were master pieces, even though i've had them for 2 years, its still refreshing to listen to em. He teams up with James Lavelle and they go under the alias of U.N.K.L.E. which is much the same, but more beaty.

There is a shadow following, www.endtroducing.com have his discography and news, then there's a DJ Shadow site somewhere, just look for it on www.dogpile.com

i bought his new album the day after it came out. you're right about him having a style all to his self but i classify him as lounge music. anyways the album was in the stores for sampling and when i first heard it i knew i had to own it. its alright to have a little variety, sometimes im just not in the mood for trance.

Actually, Dr. Octagon is an alias of Kool Keith. Though Shadow does produce the beat of "Bear Witness" with scratching done by Dj Q-bert. The Dr. Octagon instrumentals cd is a solid pick up as well.
