the only way i know off is by every time you see a movie ect and you here a sample you like. get a copy and sample the vocal. i know people will say what about the legal aspect?

well its been happening for years and the risk off being sued is not likely. i dont know all the ins and outs but other then buying cleared vocals witch you may or may not like seem the only other choice.

Where could I shop for these types of ambient vocals? I don't mind ripping from a movie, but I want to know how to get to the source. Where is this stuff coming from and who is making it and who is selling it. It's not the first time I've ran across something I heard in a track that I thought was exclusive to that track, only to hear it on a movie or another track. There is a source and I want to know what it is and how I can find it. There are some artists, like Robert Vadney, who use tons of extremely unique samples for their music (listen to his Halloween EP) and I know there is no way in hell he makes them. I have the pleasure of knowing him and chatting on occasion, so I can tell you that the intro track is a vocal cut from a Charles Manson interview, but some of the other things he uses, and other artists, are just unreal. They're not some crap ripped from a movie either. It's mega high quality sampling. Where the hell are they getting this stuff?!?!

Hard dance samples things like samual L jackson etc all the time. I doubt the contacted universal studios and asked. The tracks i talk of are on big labels too so dont worry too much about it. Also your music would have to get pretty big for someone to notice.

basicly, people who use these kind of sample evolve an ear for hearing certain things that would sound awesome with their music. it just comes with the territory but like most producers take the same matrix sample or like the same dune samples but it takes skill to use things that noone knows off and it comes with watching alot of clips, listening to alot interviews and etc. you have to learn to mentally block out everything except the part you are going to eventually use etc.

and licensing, well, the simple matter of fact is that most producers & labels tend to release the material anyways and if they get sued or cease & desist ordered then be it. some clear samples, but most don't clear samples until you have to.

i know for a good fact most if not all producers rip from movies for the very reasons you stated above. its all to do with finding that certen something that's in the vocal it may be saying something or sounds a certin way that make the producers stop and make a track from it.

its a art and hard to do. i think you will be wasting time trying to look at other sources mainly because the people making these tracks with the vocals you hear rely on the diversity in the first place.

I agree with everything that has been said, however, I'm pretty sure the stuff I posted in the original thread (the two youtubes) was not ripped from a movie. I'm 99% certain it is from a song or sampling source.

Are there underground sampling things that people buy and don't talk about? The thing used in the Robert Vadney tune is amazing quality. It may not appear so in the youtube, but you should hear the full 320. The quality was also amazing in the other ambient track. It used the samples in a completely different way, and also had a guy doing the hymns as well.
