I can't say I'm creative, but my mindstate is pretty regularized.
I tend to say that altered states tend to enhance the music making experience - none the less sometimes I'll hear something and it will tweak my conciousness as is. Just that moment if you are writting something and it just sounds "special", and the air around you starts to solidify with an aura of intensity.
I've been finding I've been writting with intent more. My first couple years of writting were mostly just fooling around with sound trying to make something sound "good" with the odd thought popping into my head, an artist that the music reminds me of, or an idea to do something specific like reverse something. Very patchwork. Although it is still alot like that, I'm a lot more sound focused now. Where I'll get sounds in my mind, not audible but sentimental. Also I set out more often on doing themes now -eg. writting about a person or event. None the less I see it as a random crapshoot. Obviously the more you write the more you have as a background on your expereinces, what has worked and what hasn't.
I feel like writting at all different times, sometimes it will just be, I havn't written in X period of time, I should sit down see what I make. Other times I'll take a stint of a day or a week of straight writting cause I'm into it at the time.
It is fairly clear writting while high makes every note much more than it is. Although I cannot attest to partaking of narcotics. Even writting drunk gives a whole different feel. I tend to write sober. |
Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing.

commercial and underground electronic music (house/techno/trance/other) will surpass today's hip hop/pop/rock/country in worldwide interest...if it has'nt already.
