What is the "root note"?

as in all music making, experience is a very important factor. I think you gotta learn it yourself, there is no magic tutorial which will make you the next Ferry Corsten *unfortunately*

the root note is the first note of the scale your piece is in

yep, its basically the main key/harmonic that the song is in.

Say you have a basic C chord that changes up to a G chord, instead of makingn the bass C and then up to G.

You could have a C and then goto D, because that would work with a G (mostly likely).

Or another good one would be to play th ebass down when the main chord goes up. Like when you change up to G, play the bass, so that it goes from C DOWN to a G.

Oh, I go and try that

So, if I play the chord (that is same like strings?) in C5 and then it goes up to G5, so the bass should go either C5 and then to D5 or C5 and then down to G4? Did I get that right?
